According to the Federal trade commission, consumer complaints about debt collectors have increased for the 7th year in a row. In 2004, the number of complaints grew by 34.9%!

The most frequent complaints involved:

• repeated contacts
• vulgar language
• false threats
• unauthorized calls to employers, relatives and neighbors.

The FTC report added that the reported complaints amount to a very small percentage of the actual violations.
