Scope of Practice

The Firm services municipal, business and individual clients throughout Metropolitan Detroit, the State of Michigan, and the United States. The Firm advices Clients in municipal matters including land use, zoning and planning issues, corporate entities in the practice areas of liability defense, insurance coverage and commercial litigation, real estate and corporate transactions. The Firm currently represents a significant individual client base, providing legal assistance in general practice areas including bankruptcy, criminal defense, family law, employment law, worker's compensation, social security disability and personal injury cases.

Brief History of the Firm

The Rasor Law Firm was founded by James B. Rasor, Esq. in 1994 to provide a comprehensive and diverse practice environment in a community based setting. The Firm has had extensive experience in working with municipalities, businesses and individuals to solve diverse legal problems and/or issues.

This has provided the practice a broad perspective on the practice of law in general, and specific experience in a broad range of legal matters, including land use, zoning and planning, insurance defense and coverage, real estate acquisition and financing, landlord/tenant law, commercial transactions and contracts, administrative law, criminal law, personal injury, employment and general, trial and appellate practice.

The Firm prides itself on its diverse legal talent and client base. All of the Firm's lawyers are independent business people who were recruited and joined the Firm's team to collaborate on important issue in law. Each has a significant expertise in their own fields, impressive professional accomplishments and substantial public service responsibilities and accomplishments. Thus, as a team, we bring a multidisciplinary perspective to solving client's problems. This results in a more comprehensive view of practice areas and solutions that work to incorporate different interest groups while maintaining the integrity of the law.

Therefore, we come to this issue with an expert multi-disciplinary view from the competing interested groups, not pre-conceived notions based upon ideology.
